Although Switzerland is not directly subject to this directive, the Federal Council has announced its intention to adapt Swiss law accordingly. According to the report by the Federal Department of Justice and Police (FDJP) dated September 22, 2023, Switzerland plans to align its requirements with those of the CSRD to maintain its international competitiveness and facilitate its companies\u2019 access to the European market.  <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-274793d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"274793d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Scope of the CSRD for Swiss Companies<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8b26d87 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8b26d87\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the specific details of Switzerland\u2019s implementation of the CSRD have not yet been finalized, the Federal Council has provided guidance on its likely scope of application. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.admin.ch\/gov\/fr\/accueil\/documentation\/communiques.msg-id-97782.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>According to the guidelines set out on September 22, 2023<\/em><\/span><\/a>, the following criteria are expected to apply:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Companies with at least 250 employees (compared with 500 under current law)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Balance sheet total of CHF 25 million (currently CHF 20 million)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sales of 50 million francs (currently 40 million)<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These thresholds are lower than those currently in force in the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO), which means that a greater number of Swiss companies will be affected. The Federal Council will designate these equivalent standards, which could include the standards of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalreporting.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Global Reporting Initiative<\/em><\/span><\/a> (GRI) or the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifrs.org\/groups\/international-sustainability-standards-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>International Sustainability Standards Board<\/em><\/span><\/a> (ISSB). <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With regard to verification, sustainability reports will have to be audited by an approved auditing firm or conformity assessment body. For public-interest companies (such as those listed on the stock exchange), the audit will have to be carried out by an auditing firm subject to state supervision.
